Dhruv was born in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India. His mother, Rajini Jurel, is a housewife, and his father, Nem Singh Jurel, is a retired Havaldar of the Indian Army. Dhruv’s father desired for him to be enlisted in the Army as an officer, but a preference for athletics was held by him. During his school days, participation in the school’s swimming camp occurred.

It was there that kids playing cricket and a batter smashing sixes were witnessed by him, sparking his interest in the game.
