Sarfaraz Khan: Early Days & Domestic Career

In a Harris Shield match, he scored 439 runs, shattering Sachin Tendulkar’s 45-year record for the highest total in Mumbai’s Inter-school competition. In Mumbai’s Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 competition final match against Baroda, his team needed three runs from the penultimate ball, and he struck a scooped six to win that match.

Entry into the Uttar Pradesh Team

Sarfaraz played his first Ranji match with Mumbai against Bengal in 2014. Given that his father is from Azamgarh, it was stated in July 2015 that Sarfaraz will be joining Uttar Pradesh prior to the 2015–16 domestic season.

Cricketer Sarfaraz Khan’s IPL Journey

The IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore paid 50 lakhs for Khan at the 2015 IPL auction. Sarfaraz made history by being the IPL’s youngest player. In an IPL 2015 encounter in Bangalore against Rajasthan Royals, he scored a rapid 45 runs off 21 balls, stealing the show.

He was acquired by the Kings XI Punjab in the December 2018 Indian Premier League player auction. He was acquired by the Delhi Capitals in February 2022 during the Indian Premier League 2022 auction. Sarfaraz Khan may join Chennai Super Kings in the 2024 Indian Premier League to replace the injured Shivam Dube.


Sarfaraz maintained his appetite between May 19, 2018, and March 25, 2019 by competing in regional competitions including the DY Patil Tournament and Kanga League. After a miscommunication with eventual centurion Ravindra Jadeja, Khan was run out at the non-striker’s end during his first innings, having amassed a notable 62 runs off 66 balls.

He scored six runs and nine boundaries in his innings. With his fifty coming off of just 48 balls, Khan matched Hardik Pandya’s 2017 record for the joint-fastest fifty by an Indian cricket player making his debut.
